The Great Forest Park Balloon Race

I’m always game for great photo ops!  At heart, I’m a wannabe photographer.  So when I heard about the Great Forest Park Balloon Race, I knew I had to go!!  A field of hot air balloons, literally across the street?  Oh yes, this was an event for me.

Even better, on Friday night there was the balloon glow!

Saturday was the day of the actual race.  We showed up early as the event had a photography contest and were going to let amateur photographers in to get photos.  Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate and they cancelled the photo event.  Boo.  So we found a patch of grass to sit on and chilled in the sun until the actual race.

First balloon was off!!

Followed by the chaser balloons!

Love the goldfish balloon!!

Problem with a hot air balloon race?  I have no idea who won!  The wind carried the balloons out of sight fairly quickly.

Those “glow” pictures are gorgeous! Definitely a cool event to check out!

The glow ended up being my favorite part – every few minutes they would light up the balloons – it was really cool to see.

I saw your pictures on Instagram and they were all great. Looks like a fun event, especially if it was so close to you!

It was fun!! I did wish I had your weather app at one point though because it was stinking hot! Or at least it was to me! 🙂
